Qigong
Qigong is a wonderful awareness and health enhancing practice from China. It combines breath, movement and meditation/visualisation to actively engage with, balance and build the energy of the body. In Chinese the word for energy is known as qi (pronounced chi) and gong means to work. Qigong then is working with one’s energy. As with all awareness practices including yoga and meditation we work with diligence, patience and perseverance to achieve an outcome. We practice qigong with this aim as well. Dedicated practice leads to increased vitality, emotional and mental balance and a deeper awareness of oneself and of life.
Qigong provides you with an extremely valuable self- healing tool for life and is relaxing and enjoyable to practice.
There are many forms of qigong which fall into five streams: Taoist, Buddhist, Confuscian, Martial and Medical qigong. Medical qigong forms specifically work to improve one’s health and wellbeing. They promote health and aid in recovery from illness and chronic conditions.
