Traditional East Asian Medicine (TEAM)

Traditional Chinese & Japanese therapies are utilised in these treatments for both acute and chronic conditions. The aim is to provide relief and benefit to your specific symptoms whilst also addressing the underlying imbalance in the body at a constitutional level.

The tools used may be Japanese style needling, Moxabustion, Cupping and a range of  Polarity Tools.   To approach your health from a holistic view Dietary & Lifestyle advice may be recommended and also the Chinese health practice of Qigong

Every treatment is unique.

Traditional East Asian Medicine works on the premise, as does Shiatsu, of our body being composed of energy as well as our physical composition.  This energy is contained and ordered in “channels” or “meridians” which are like rivers of energy running throughout the body that are connected to each other and to the organs.  This energy system underlies and guides our physical functioning and is relevant, often vital, to be addressed in any health situation.

Many people with chronic conditions express that allopathic medicine has not found a reason for their symptoms.

This is because allopathic medicine is not looking at the energetic body system, our underlying life force.  In most cases once the energetic system is attended to the person will begin to experience positive changes in their wellbeing and gain understanding as to their condition to enact change and further enhancement of wellbeing.

Understanding health and healing is a journey of self discovery.

Traditional East Asian Therapies are known to be highly beneficial for the following:

• Digestive imbalance                        • Menstrual imbalances

• Back, Neck and Shoulder pain      • Sciatica                 • Arthritis

  • Stress & Depression

 • Headaches & Migraine

  • Sleep disorders and Fatigue

In Asian medicine there is no “one treatment for all”. Everyone’s health situation is assessed on an individual basis and requires an individual treatment plan that will be discussed with you.

All of the therapies used promote stimulation of the body’s self healing mechanisms and may be beneficial for all aspects of our being - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.  Please read below for more information on the individual therapies.

If you are experiencing a chronic condition it may take a number of sessions for the practitioner to gain insight into the complexity of your symptoms.

Once your symptoms have been addressed and you are experiencing improvement it may be recommended to have ongoing sessions - monthly or bimonthly to promote and maintain balance in the body.

What if I don’t like needles? It’s absolutely fine as needles are only one aspect of the therapy.  The polarity tools and moxa can be used instead of needles for balancing of the body’s energy.

Therapies

Japanese Needling uses very fine needles to stimulate the energy in the body.  It is usually experienced as pain free.  The needles are inserted only a shallow depth as opposed to the deeper needling technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Polarity Tools are also used to effect balance within the body using the highly effectual tools of the Manaka Ion Pumping Cords and Electrostatic Adsorber.  These tools effect the ionic currents in the body and balance the distribution of levels of positive and negative ions thus decreasing pain and increasing internal balance.

Cupping is able to stimulate movement of energy and encourage circulation in the musculature of the body.  They may also be used to assist a number of organ disfunction symptoms to improve digestive and respiratory health.

Moxabustion is an external herbal therapy applied through heat to further activate the energy points and stimulate healing mechanisms.  It is warming, nourishing and deeply healing.

Other tools include the Manaka Needle and Hammer (a gentle wooden device) often used for children and/or sensitive people and Sotai Muscular Therapy, specific movements performed in conjunction with the breath that encourage joint/muscular alignment and increased circulation to areas of pain.

Client education is a vital aspect of treatment at Elemental Living.  Sessions always include an educational element which may include diet, lifestyle and/or awareness practices so that YOU can increase your health and vitality on a daily basis yourself, learn to listen to your body, it’s messages and experience best health.

Testimonials

“I was a day or two away from total burnout. I believe I didn't hit rock bottom because I has already started treatments with Lisa. I received weekly Shiatsu, moxa and "Cords" treatments, and together with some advice I put into practice daily I feel as good as I've been in a long time. It's only but now three weeks later. Lisa is not only highly skilled at what she does, she has a calm presence which is relaxing in itself. The treatments occur within a safe, comfortable and warm environment. I would highly recommended receiving a treatment from Lisa.”
