Elements of Living
19th July to 13th September, 2022
Tuesday’s 10.00am - 12.30pm
Location: The Australian Shiatsu College, Evans Street, Brunswick
Would you like to experience better health and wellbeing?
Elements of Living is a 9 week course to deepen your awareness of both self and health, empowering you in creating your health and life.
The knowledge and wisdom of Traditional East Asian Medicine and Anthroposophy combined with an introduction to Qigong and Mindfulness practices gives you greater understanding of your health with the tools to minimise the stress response in your body and maximise your ability to achieve good health and wellbeing.
The course will introduce you to the natural rhythms of the body and the characteristics and levels of being of our internal organs - the spleen, lungs, kidneys, liver and heart. These rhythms and our organic functioning are supported by how well we eat, breath, move, drink and sleep which in turn supports our ability to be passionately engaged and productive in our life and purpose. Unfortunately our modern Western lifestyle often negates these rhythms and good health.
Living with an understanding of the Elements of Living and natural rhythms contributes to the vibrancy of our Body, Mind and Spirit.
The Elements of Living will be explored in the following ways:
the Natural Rhythms of Life according to the Tao, understanding Yin and Yang,
the Asian Five Element model - Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood, it’s application and relevance to our internal organs, their association with Nature and human physical, emotional and mental health,
the Elements of daily living - How we eat, breath, move, drink and sleep can contribute to either health or illness. Learn how your choices can support health!
Qigong and Mindfulness practices to tangibly understand and engage with these Elements,
the Elements and Elementals of Nature,
Artistic exercises to explore our connection to nature,
Biodynamics to enhance the Home Garden, and
food choices to support individual needs, seasonal availability and cooking methods … and enjoy an “element” inspired meal at each session.
The course is essentially about understanding and remembering the “Elements of good living” which much of society have forgotten or are too distracted to consider. Healthy rhythms and elements of good living create harmony inside ourselves, within our organs and physical, emotional and mental functioning.
Course information is supplemented by modern medical theory bridging the physical with the spiritual. This course will open your mind and body to new possibilities. At the completion of the course, and even during, you will feel and experience that transformation is possible for yourself.
This course is beneficial for everyone and can be of particular benefit to those experiencing emotional, digestive, sleep or menstrual disorders. No prior experience of qigong or meditation is necessary.
Each session provides theory, practical exercises, discussion and a delicious meal.
The course cost is $450 full, $395 concession inclusive of teaching, course notes, a delicious weekly small meal and a journal.
